June 9 (Bloomberg) -- French President Nicolas Sarkozy and German counterpart Angela Merkel said in a joint letter to European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso that there is an urgent need for action on the sovereign credit-default swap market and on short-selling.
The European Commission should present possible alternatives by the end of July, they wrote in the letter.
